Versatility and Creativity are two parameters that any artist is judged by. Some bring in innovative techniques while others dazzle you by reinforcing the beauty, richness and eternity of tradition. A truly creative artist is one who appears free as a bird in his visualization and expression and is able to create magic on the stage!

In music, there is another category of artists whose creativity is seen beyond these frontiers. Not content with binding you with their concert presentations, their creativity has flowered in the form of compositions. The ideas that emanate from a phrase of raga are but like the wisps of smoke from incense—while their fragrance is as enchanting always, their forms morph into different shapes given the variables of mood, time, place and other external factors. By capturing these ideas in compositions, these artists have etched their names tangibly in the Carnatic Music Firmament.

Medai Vendra Methaigal is a unique thematic music series that focuses on great performing musicians who are also well known and loved composers.Conceptualized by Dr. VijayalakshmySubramaniam, the programme features a concert showcasing the rich repertoire of such compositions in the Carnatic Music inventory. A presentation by V.Sriram brings under the spotlight the lives and times of these great stalwarts. The programme is organized by Narada Gana Sabha.
